Bikaneri Masala Badi famous as a home made badi ki sabji. It Is made and loved in every rajasthani family. It is prepared and used as many of customs and rituals in rajasthani families.In earlier times there was lack of green vegetables in Rajasthan. And so their innovative women invented this new variety of sabji made from moong dal and moth dal. Which is equally appreciated today from the rajasthani families as well as others Moong dal badi, papad, khicha, rabodi n all sort of pickles were prepared at home only, by all the ladies of family or with the help of neighbours.
Now a days preparing badi papad etc. in house has become a tough task for ladies as they are working out now. So its different variety is available in market. Badi is made using different daals (split beans) like moong, urad and chawli.
The split beans are soaked overnight and ground with other spices like heeng, salt and chillies. Thereafter grounded badi mixture are dropped on plastic sheets in straight format and dried in sun. The dried badi can be stored in an air tight container and used as when required for the whole year.
